How are you today?

I'm worried

A word for this moment

God doesn't ask you to carry it all alone. He invites you to hand over the weight.

A word for you

Bible text

Philippians 4:6-7

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

1 Peter 5:7

“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

Matthew 6:34

“Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself.”

Psalms 94:19

“In the multitude of my thoughts within me thy comforts delight my soul.”

Understand

Guidance

Paul writes Philippians as a prisoner in Rome, with no control over his own future. He doesn't deny the difficulty: he moves where the worry is placed. Anxiety tries to solve in thought what can only be solved through surrender. That's why the text joins prayer, supplication, and thanksgiving — three movements that take our eyes off the scene and place them on God.

Reflect

Reflection

Worry tries to solve in thought what can only be solved through surrender. Separate what depends on you today from what only God sustains.

Practice today

Breathe deeply for a minute and pray Psalm 94:19 out loud before the next task that tightens your chest.

Pray

Prayer

Lord, I bring what I'm carrying and cannot solve. I receive your care in place of my restlessness. Guard my heart and mind in your peace, and give me strength for what is mine today. In Jesus' name, amen.
